A great Japanese restaurant in West Auckland, New Lynn and gives Westies a chance to devour tasty Japanese cuisine without have to break the bank or drive needlessly. If you love Japanese food, definitely give Musashi a go. Well lit with not too many distractions but enough sake and Japanese beer bottles surrounding the kitchen like numerous Yakuza bodyguards, it’s almost a hint to order some sake. The seating arrangements can be odd due to the long tables so Musashi is great for dates, 4 people catchups or small family outings.
IRASSHAI MASEN! Is what you’re greeted at a traditional Japanese restaurant and the same applies at Musashi. The waiter/waitresses are usually sharp. It’s a good thing they have a sign that states “Please wait to be seated” as you walk in. Got flow and direction for customers.
Musashi has several branches in Auckland and it’s great that an authentic and presentable establishment has opened up in Auckland. And thankfully the food is presented almost immaculately like a gift just ready to be devoured.
We went for lunch and their sets are something worth going for. It’s a great unique experience “cooking” your dish as I did with my Salmon Hooba set. Unlike your bento boxes where it’s just segregated food, here each condiment has its own plate and bowl. You’re getting the Japanese presentation from actual Japanese chefs and their pride really shines here.
Fresh, tasty and just at the right portions, you’re finish your meal without feeling you’ve bloated yourself. It’s also great value as well, the lunch sets are $15.50 which is a small price to pay to experience great Japanese cuisine.
